4M (397M). Mukana T ja U Jalkaset, P.Aalto. Tuulta n 13m lounaasta. Meno kakkosreivatulla isolla, tulo reivatulla etupurjeella. Aurinkoinen ilma, kokeiltiin lahjaksi saamaani aurinkokelloa, oli talvi-ajassa ja vartin myöhässä.

Käveltiin saaren eteläpäähän keräämään puolukoita. Ja löytyihän niitä vielä n 8 litraa. Puista oli jo lehdet lähteneet. Olimme ainoa vene Lehmässä. Syksy on vääjäämättä tulossa.

4M (356M) Mukana Venla L, Janne J, Oiva A ja Pekka A. Heikkoa koillistuulta ja osittain tyyntä alkuosuudella. Siten jäätiin viimeistä edelliseksi veneeksi Sapokan aallonmurtajan edessä, kun ei ole niitä keveän tuulen purjeita.

Kun tuuli sitten heräsi niin ohiteltiin noin kymmenkunta kölivenettä.

Käytiin vielä kisan jälkeen Lehmässä juomassa kahvit ja kuuntelemassa keihäänheittokisa Pekingistä. Tero Pitkämäki tuli kolmanneksi.

4M (356M) Onboard Venla L, Janne J, Oiva A and Pekka A. Light northeast wind, partly no wind on the start part. So we were the second last boat on the starting part of the trip.

When the wind started blowing, we overtook about ten keelboats.

After the race we went to Island Lehmä to drink some coffee and listen the javelingcompetition in Peking. Tero Pitkämäki was third in the competition.

2M (yht368M) Mukana Yrjö K, Oiva A ja Pekka A. Tuuli lounaasta n 8 m/s. Lähtö onnistui suht hyvin. Luovilla mentiin alemmas kuin muut, mutta vauhdilla. Vasta maissa havaittiin, että kukaan ei ollut laittanut köliä alas. Etu purje oli puolet reivattuna, mutta luoviosuudella reivi poistettiin. Siten tultiin toisena maaliin. Vaikka luovilla alemmas kuin muut niin kovemmalla vaudilla. Parannettavaa jäi taas.

2M (tot 368 M) Onboard Yrjö K, Oiva A and Pekka A. The wind is from southwest app 8 m/s. The start succeeded well. We tacked lover than else, but with speed. We noticed after the finish line that the keel was in its upper position. The foresail was half reefed. So we came second to the finish line. So there is left a lot to make better.

Aamulla kalasteltiin ja syötiin ennen takaisinpurjehdusta. Aamu oli aurinkoinen ja tuuli koillisesta 6 - 8 m/s. Toinen Trimmun peräköysistä oli vedetty rantakiveen eikä vene tapaillut pohjaan vaikka syvyyttä oli vain polveen asti.

In the morning we fished and ate before sailing back to town. The morning was sunny and the wind came from northeasst 6-8 m/s. The other one of Trimmus backropes was droven to a stone in the shore. The boat did'n touch the bottom unless there were only water about 40 cm:s.


Kotimatkalla vastaan tuli varmaankin meripäiviltä pois purjehtiva Kaljaasi.

On the way to home  a galleon sailed towards us, we guessed that it was coming from sailing meeting days in Kotka.

Purjehdittiin Ristisaareen tarkoituksena ankkuroida saaren rantaan ja viettää yö siellä. Tuuli kääntyi kuitenkin pohjoiseen ja voimistui, niin päätettiin jatkaa matkaa varapaikkana olleeseen Långöhön.

We sailed to Island Ristisaari. We thoughed we could anchorice there and spend also a night there. The wind turned to north and strenghtened, so we decided to continue to Långö.



Perille päästiin noin seitsemältä. Teltan pystytyksen ja ruokailun jälkeen ehdittiin tutkia niemekkeen kalliotöitä ja ihailla kelokuusia.

We arrived to Långö at about 7 o'clock. After setting up a tent and eating we studied the stoneworks and old trees in the island.



Ilta pimeni ja taivaalta saattoi arvailla seuraavan päivän olevan myös poutapäivä.

It came night and we could only hope that the next day will be no rain.

(302M)Kaunis aurinkoinen päivä. Illalla lahdelle purjehti venäläinen purjevene, ajoivat aluksi lahden keskellä olevalle kivelle, mutta pienen neuvonnan jälkeen löysivät lahdet syvät rantautumispaikat. (Soitin kaverille ja kysyin mitä on venäjäksi matalaa, vasemmalle, oikealle.)

Huomenna olis tarkoitus tulla kotiin, toivottavasti tuuli ei tyynny.

In the evening one russian sailing boat came into the bay, first they collided on to a rock in the middle of the bay, but after a little conversation they found deep places to come on shore. (I phonet to my friend and asked what is on russian language swallow, to left to right.)

Tomorrow it is my meaning to come home, hopefully the wind doesn't die.

Tiirat vartioi sataman viereistä kalliota kuten jo vuosia sitten kun kävin samalla saarella. Muita saaren lintuja Mustarastas, västäräkki, kalalokit ja isokoskelot. Merimetsoja lentelee silloin tällöin ohi toisiin saariin. Muitakin lintuja on, mutta niitä en tunnista.

(302M) Beautiful sunny morning. The wind has turned to west. 

Terns guard the rocks beside the harbour, like years before when I visited the Island. Other birds of the Island are blackbird, wagtail, mew and goosander. Cormorants fly past every now and then to other islands. There are olso other birds, but them I can't identify.

(tot 302M) Pekka A. A mew has flyable chicks, a goosander has seven chicks. In the morning the wind came from northeast, Trimmu was in safe place where the waves didn't make any harm.

I walked on the rocks about 1,5h. It might be possible to fish from some rocks, if I had the fishing rod with on this trip.

2.7.2008 Keskiviikko Äljy-Lehmä (17)

13M (yht 260M). Säätiedotus lupasi pohjoiseen kääntyvää tuulta joten purjehdin Lehmään. (Pekka A). Aluksi tuulta ei ollut joten ajoin koneella n 3M. Merikarin kohdalla tuuli lopulta virkosi ja kääntyi länteen.

Lehmän pohjukassa oli toistakymmentä venettä, joten jäin lahden suulle. Vasta illalla pääsin sisemmille paikoille kun päiväkävijät lähtivät yöksi Kotkaan.

13M (tot 260M) The weatherforecast said that the wind will turn to north, so I sailed to Island-Lehmä (Pekka A). In the morning there were no wind, so I had to drive with motor approximately 3M. Near Merikari-Island the wind eventually started blowing and turned to west. 

In the lagoon of Island Lehmä, there are about 20 boats, so I had to stay on the edge of the lagoon. Only in the evening I got to better places, when the daytrippers left to Kotka-city.

Mantereen puolella ukkonen jylisee. Peipot laulavat saaressa. Varis käy vierailemassa kalliokarilla kunnes lokit hätyyttävät sen pois. Ukkonen ei nouse merelle vaan häipyy mantereelle.

It thuders near coast. Finches are singing in the Island. One crow visits the rocky Island, until the seagulls drive it out. The thunder doesn't come to sea. It goes onshore.

12M (yht 247M). Mukana Pekka A. Lähtö Sapokasta n klo 14.30. Tuuli leppoista etelätuulta. Ankkurointi onnistui kyllä, mutta sitten kaakkoistuuli (tai veden laskeminen) painoi Trimmun hietikolle (sivukiinnityksestä). Vene on kevyt vedessä, mutta sivuttain hiekalla se painaa 1100 kg. Vedin köyden ulommaiselle rannan kivelle, missä oli rautatanko. n klo 21.oo sain käännettyä keulan merelle ja nostettua perää joten taas ollaan vedessä.

12M (tot 247M) Onboard Pekka A. Leaving Sapokka approximately 14,30. The wind was light from south. Anchorin was luckily, but the the wind turned to southeast and the water lowered and Trimmu was suddenly onhsore. The boat is light on water, but the side on sand it weights 1100 kg:s. I put a rope to a rock where was a metal bar. Approximately 21.00 I got the boats nose towards the sea. After that I lifted the rear a couple of cm s from side to side. Then we are again on water.

Äljyn taikaa /The magic of Island Äljy

28M (yht 235M). Mukana Ulla J, Timo J ja Pekka A päiväretkellä Äljyssä. Paikka edelleen upea. Sää aurinkoinen ja lämmin.

Äljystä olen kuullut sanottavan, että mitähän ihmeellistä siinä on. Vettä ja kiveä ja muutama mänty. Eikä ihmisiä mailla halmeilla. - Siinä se juuri on. Ei ihmisiä mailla halmeilla. Ympärillä vain pelkkää vettä. Muutama kivi ja mänty.

28.6.2008 (14) Saturday sailing to Island Äljy.

28M (tot 235M) Onboard Ulla J, Timo J and Pekka A on daysailing to Äljy. The place is vondeful. The weather was beautiful and warm.

I have heard said of Island Äljy, that it is not special place. There is only water, rocks and a few tree. No people anywhere. - I think it is the special thing. No people. Only water around you. Some rocks and some trees.

Päivällä mummon hautajaiset.

Lähtö illalla klo 18.00. Alussa kevyttä kaakkoistuulta. Kevyet veneet menivät heittämällä ohi. Ruotsinsalmen jälkeen tuuli kääntyi itään ja virkistyi. Samalla Trimmun vauhtikin nousi ja muutama vene ohitettiin. Enskerin luona kurssi kääntyi takaisin Haapasaarta kohti ja muut nostivat spinnun, mutta meillä ei spinnua ollut.

Illan jo pimetessä ohitettiin Haapasaari. Yöllä oli vielä spinnuosuus ja alkoi vihmoa vettä. Maaliin tulimme n klo 3 neljäntenä veneenä. Edessä näimme todellisia taitajia ja nälkää jäi vielä seuraaviin kisoihin, vaikka mitään ammattilaisia meistä ei koskaan tulisikaan.

During the day was my fathers mothers funeral.

The start was in the evening at 18.00. First the wind was light from southeast. Light boats passed us. After the Ruotsinsalmi-strait the wind turned to east and growed a little. The speed of Trimmu raised also and we passed a few boats. Near the Island Enskeri we headed towards Haapasaari-island. Others raised the spinnaker, which we didn't have. 

We passed the Island Haapasaari when it had allready darkened. During the night others raised again a spinnaker. It started raining. We were 3rd boat in the finish line. On front of us we saw really good sailers. This was a good competition and we will participate also in future unless we will never be professional competitors.

Mohnista ajettiin koneella Viinistuun. Siellä syötiin ruoka ja kuultiin tuulen yltyvän sunnuntai-iltana. Ei haluttu jäädä myräkkään joten lähdettiin ajoissa kotimatkalle.

Purjehdus Suomeen tapahtui etelän kautta länteen kääntyneessä kevyessä tuulessa. Sunnuntaiaamuna tuuli yltyi. Loppumatka päätettiin tehdä Lehmään, missä nukuttiin univelka pois.

From Mohn we drived by machine to Viinistu. In there we ate and heard the weather report. The wind was going to become very hard. We didn't want to stay under the big wind, so we started sailing home.

It became night when we sailed to Finland. The wind turned from south to west. In the sunday morning the wind hardened. We went to Lehmä island, where we sleeped the rest of the morning.

Illansuussa lähtö Viinistuun yhteistapaamiseen Merihaan venekerhon kanssa. Yöllä heikossa tuulessa päästiin Orrengrundin edustalle, missä oltiin aamulla n viiden aikaan. Ylitys tapahtui nousevassa itä-koillistuulessa. Viinistuun ei uskallettu ajaa sisään kovassa aallokossa vaan jäätiin ankkuriin Mohnin suojanpuoleiselle rannalle. Mukana Pekka A ja Timo J.

We started sailing towards Viinistu summit, where we will meet the members of Merihaka sailing club. The wind was light during the night. We reached Orrengrund, where we were at morning 5 o'clock. Then the wind freshened. We did not dare to drive in to the harbour of Viinistu because of big waves. We anchoraged in the leeside of Mohn. Sailing Pekka A and Timo J.

Mukana Terttu, Oiva A ja Pekka A. Reipasta lounaistuulta. Hiukkasen kankeasti sujui lähtö ja pari hätäistä käännöstäkin. Lopuksi sattui paras mahdollinen tuuli trimmulle ja tultiin mukavasti maaliin. Veneen käsittelyharjoituksesta purjehdus kävi hyvinkin.

Sailing Terttu, Oiva A and Pekka A. Fresh southwest wind. The start was not very good and there were a couple of not good turns. But then it started blowing the best wind for Trimmu, that we can think and we got very well to finish. This sailing was a good training session.

Siirtopurjehdus Veleirolle mukavassa länsituulessa katsastuksen jälkeen. Matkalla Timo keitteli kahvit. Veleiro saa laittaa aurinkopanelit keulakannelle.

Sailing to Veleiro maintenance shipyard after the sailclub inspection. The wind was nice wind from west. On the way Timo made coffee. Veleiro will attach solar panels to the deck.

Siirtopurjehdus vieraslaituriin tietysti Lehmä kiertäen. Vika olikin pääkytkimessä.

Sailing to the quay, where you can load  batteries. However the mainpower switch was broken.

Matalan rannan kokeilu /Testing shallow beach

Mukana Pekka, Timo ja Simo. Tarkoituksena oli purjehtia testaamaan Äljyn matalarantainen luonnonsatama. Tuuli tuli kuitenkin kaakon ja etelän väliltä, joten muutimme suunnitelmia ja purjehdimme Kaunissaaren pohjoiskärjen matalalle hiekkarannalle.



Pikkukahvittelutauon jälkeen otimme kohteeksi Långön suojaisen, mutta matalan lounaispoukaman.



Paluumatkalla ilta alkoi viilentyä. Rankki ampui kovapanosammuntoja. Kotiin päästiin vielä hyvissä ajoin katsomaan kuinka Suomi voitti pronssia lätkässä.

Onboard Pekka, Timo and Simo. Our aim was to sail to Island Äljy to test how Trimmu goes to shallow natural harbour.The wind blowed however from southeast, so we changed plans and sailed to Island Kaunissaari to its shallow sandbeach.

After a little coffee pause we decided to  sail to Island Långös shallow beach.

The evening started to be cold. The fort Rankki practiced cannonshooting. We got home in good time to watch the ice hockey to notice that Finland won proncemetal.

Vesillelasku /Launch to water

Launch to water and sailing to Sapokka (the basis of our yacht club). We forgot the keel to its upper position.

v2008 Kevättyöt /Year 2008 spring maintenance

Talven Trimmu vietti Gutzeitin viereisellä purukentällä. Keväällä ostin sille trailerin, mutta se ei kerinnyt valmistua ennen vesillelaskuja, joten laskettiin autonosturilla.

Trimmu spent the winter on the maintenance beach beside the paper factory. I bought for it a trailer, but it didn't reach the launch, so we launched the boat by crane truck.

Maanantai-iltana päästiin Barösundiin. Sieltä jatkettiin Porkkalan editse Lillfjärdeniin. Alkumatka sujui purjeilla Porkkalanselän yli, mutta sitten tuuli taas tyyntyi ja uumoili ukkosta. Ukkosen ajaksi poikettiin sisäväylälle, jossa pidettiin myös ruokatunti. Iltapuoli ajettiin koneella.

Lillfjärdenissä vietiin vene alle metrin syvyyteen rantaan, mikä kannattikin koska yöllä tuli jälleen ukkonen. Aamulla tuuli oli kääntynyt pohjoiseen, mikä antoikin maksimissaan 9 solmun vauhdin. Päivällä taas pläkä yllätti ja Kotkaan saavuttiin koneella.

Pitkän matkan jälkeen on mukava päästä perille.

On monday evening we came to Bärösund. From there we continued to Porkkala and Lillfrärden. We had to go by machine, when the wind died. It also came thunder. For the raintime we went to inner channel towards the coast. When it was a thunder we had lunchtime. After that it was calm again, and we had to drive by machine.

In Lillfjärden we went to swallov water, which was a good choise, because it again became a thunder during the night. In the next morning the wind has changed toward north, which gave us 9kn speed. But however during the day the wind died. We arrived to Kotka by machine.

After a long trip it was nice to arrive to home.
