Opeteltiin vastakäännöksiä ja putsattiin Ninan pohjaa.

Kevyellä tuulella sijoitukset 7,11,17,17 vähän kovemmalla tuulella 18,17,18,18,18,15. Opittiin, että kevyellä tuulella paino on säätämisessä, kovemmalla tuulella veneen pitämisessä tasapainossa.

Our positions were in the light wind 7,11,17,17 and in the more wind 18,17,18,18,18,15. We learned that it is more important to adjust the sails in light winds. With more wind it is more important to keep boat flat.

Keitele regatta 3.7.2011

Sunnuntaipäivä oli tuulinen ja sateinen. Vihaisia puuskia tuli kuin ei mistään. Kolmas lähtö onnistui hyvin. Ongelmia oli siinä, että meidän litimme ei oikein noussut tuuleen samaan tahtiin kuin muut. Vika oli toki säätäjissä, mutta myös siinä, että keulan köysivanttiruuvi jousti. Siten joko noustiin puuskassa älyttömästi tai sitten laskettiin. No kumma kyllä ei oltu aivan viimeisiä.

Kaiken kaikkiaan Keiteleregatta oli mielenkiintoinen, varsinkin kun siinä ensimmäisen päivän iltana yövytään saaressa. Yllättävää oli se, miten vihaisia puuskia mahtuu myös järvelle. Toisin kuin merellä vihaisiin puuskiin ei liity kova aallokko.

Sunday was rainy and with much wind. Angry gusts game as nowhere. The third start succeeded well. We had problems, when our liti did not tack very high in the same way than others. The reason was that the sailors were not very good, but also the ropeturnbuckle in front was not good. So in gusts we went very high and other times went very low. I wonder why we were not last.

I think Keitele regatta is very interesting competition, especially when there is the sleeping in the island. Supricing was that, how angry gusts came also in a lake. In the sea there would be lots of waves in the wind like this.

Keitele regatta 2.7.2011 Lightningillä

Aamupalan jälkeen ehdittiin hädin tuskin maalilinjalle, pikku hässäkän jälkeen. Tuuli oli henkäysluokkaa aamupäivällä ja reittiä lyhennettiin. Sitä mukaa kun tuuli nousi niin sijoitus laski. Ei ihan viimeiseksi keritty jäädä.

Matilan virran kohdalla veneet kallistettiin siten, että ne menivät sillan alta. Onneksi paikalla oli muutamia asiantuntijoita, jotka näyttivät miten kallistus pitää tehdä.

Toisella osuudella myöhästyttiin lähdöstä. Reitillä oli myös yksi kapeikko, missä jonkunverran vastavirtaa. Siinä me luovimme keskeltä, vaikka olisi pitänyt mennä rantoja pitkin.


After the breakfast we hardly reached to start line, after a little promblem with turnbuckels. The wind was very light in the morning and the route was shortened. When the wind started our position dropped.

At the place of Matila current the boats were tilted so that they could go under the bridge. Happily there were some experts, who knew how to do the process.

In the other leg we were late from the start. On the route there were one narrow place, where there were some counter-current. We tacked in the middle, but should have gone along beaches.

Palattiin Kotkaan kaakkois ja itätuulilla. Nähtiin ilmeisesti kaasuputken laskualus Viron aluevesirajan ulkopuolella, koska se oli lähes samassa paikassa kuin tulomatkalla. Nähtiin myöskin joku iso raakapurjealus.

We came back to Kotka in light southeast and east winds. We saw apparently the ship which is laying down the gastube outside the Estonian territorial water, because it was nearly in the same place as we became. Also we saw some bigger old sailing boat.

Viinistu 29.6.2011

Isä ja Tepa lähtivät tutustumaan Loksan kaupunkiin linja-autoilla. Tuuli kääntyi kaakkoon. Satama on rauhaton idän puoleisilla tuulilla. Pieni muutos, yksi lisälaituri ja tilanne korjautuisi. Toiset veneet häipyvät kun aallokko yltyy.

Father and Tepa went to Loksa town by bus. The wind turnet to southeast. This is not calm place in winds from east. A litle change, a new quay will repaire the problem. Other boats go away when the waves grow.

Kaatuminen /Falling down

Tässä alla linkki sivulle, missä käsitellään Dragonfly 920:n kaatumista. Avattavasiipisillä trimaraaneilla on suurempi riski kaatumiseen. Mitä useammin siivet avataan, sitä useammin ne täytyy myös lukita ja varmistaa.  Kaatumisen mahdollisuus on asia, jonka mahdollisuus on tiedostettava ja sen kanssa on elettävä.

Here is a link to netpage, where is shown a couple pictures about Dragonfly 920 falling down. Swing wing trimarans have a bigger risk to fall down. You must lock the wings every time, when you open them. If you open them many times then you must lock them many times. Possibility to fall down is a question, which you must notice and which you must live with.

Kävin viikko sitten talvisäilytysalueella tsekkaamassa, että pressu ei ollut vielä lentänyt mäkeen. Silloin tuuli 14 m/s. Illalla oli pimeää, vain telakka-alueen voimakkaat valot.

I went last week to the dockyard to check, that the cover has not flown away. The wind was 14 m/s. It was dark, only lights were the powerful lights of dockyard.

During very warm days, the wind often dies. Someone can think, they are the best moments of the summer. They are not. You must start the machine, and the noice is annoying.

Nyt kun veneet on maissa on aikaa katsella vanhoja valokuvia. Tämä kuva on kuvauksellisesti epäonnistunut, otettu vastavaloon, onkijat tunnistamattomia. Aikaa kuvan ottamisesta on kulunut lähes kymmenen vuotta, nykyään sama kuva merkitsee lämmintä kesäpäivää hyvien ystävien kesken, yhteistä harrastusta, missä Ahti määräsi sen ketä onnistaa.

Now boats are onshore and it is time to look at old photos. This photo is unsuccesful as a photo, taken towards sun, could not recognize the fishers. It has gone nearly ten years from taking this photo, nowadays this photo means warm summerday with good friends, a common hobby, where the loord of waters chooced who would be lucky.

Between rocks this kind of a flower was groving in the Island Lehmä. They are however not epilobiums.
